WAYS TO GIVE

GIVING FBC-W

A PLEDGE to donate or tithe to the church is a promise between you and God that is shared with the church for the purpose of being more faithful, accountable and generous.

When you PLEDGE, you make a commitment to give a certain amount to the church throughout the year. In return, the church is able to budget and plan for the coming year.

Over the years, many FBC-W members have included the church in their WILLS--either for assets like homes, property, cars or monetary amounts. Like the annual pledge, naming First Baptist-West in your WILL is between you and God.

A gift made through your WILL (or Bequest) is easy to arrange with your financial or legal advisor and does not affect your current income or lifestyle.

Donating STOCKS OR BONDS (also known as appreciated securities) is another tax-friendly way to support your church. The benefits are you avoid paying capital gains tax on the sale of appreciated stock AND you receive an income tax deduction.

Note that there are special rules for valuing STOCKS OR BONDS as a gift and it's always best to contact your broker or financial advisor.

If you're 70 1/2 or older, you can support First Baptist-West with a tax-free transfer of up to $100,000 a year from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). The CHARITABLE IRA ROLLOVER (also called a qualified charitable distribution), can also count toward your required minimum distribution if you're age 72 or older.

Contact your IRA plan administrator or financial advisor to make a gift from your IRA that can help reduce your taxable income.
